Trencin boasts with rich history dated back to Roman times, evidenced by the oldest written evidence in Slovakia located on castle rock from times of Caesar Marcus Aurelius<\/strong>. A Roman inscription cut into the rocky cliff below the castle in 179 A.D. It is an epigraphic memorial whose significance extends beyond the borders of Slovakia. It documents the northern limit of the Roman army’s expansion into Central Europe, a territory already extensively settled by Germanic tribes. Trencin: A city of castle<\/h3>\n

Trencin is also well known in Slovakia as a castle city. The castle was construed in 11th century. During Ottoman Wars, the Hungarian army captured Fatima, one of the king’s daughters. She was imprisoned and kept in Trencin castle. As Omar, the ottoman prince fallen in love with Fatima, he agreed with a local landlord to built a well, in order to free Fatima. From Trencin and it surroundings are many famous ice hockey players who play or played in NHL and they have their houses in one of the most expensive areas of Slovakia – The Forrest Park Brezina<\/a>. Pilgrimage site: Skalka nad Vahom<\/h2>\n

Close to city of Trencin is located a beautiful old pilgrimage site Skalka nad Vahom connected with hermits: St. Andrew-Svorad<\/a> & St. Benadik<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The history of pilgrimage site Skalka near Trencin backs to 11th century. It consists of two sites – the Basilica of St. Andrew-Svorad & Benadik and from Small Skala, the Benedictines abbey built on rock from where the St. Benadik was thrown to Vah river. St. Benadik was praying roasary, but the bandits though he is counting the money, so they killed him and throw his body to Vah river. But his body did not drown and above his body circled the eagle till time the people did not find the body.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
