Some of our favourite guests on this tour were complete beginners who just liked the idea of beautiful countryside and good food. The sommeliers explain everything in plain language — no pretension, no jargon. You’ll leave knowing more than you expected, and you’ll have enjoyed every sip getting there.

How many wines will I actually taste across the whole tour?

A lot. Over the five days you’ll taste more than 40 wines across wineries, cellars, restaurants and the National Saloon of Wines in Bratislava. We pace it sensibly — this is a wine journey, not a pub crawl.

Is this tour only about wine, or is there proper sightseeing too?

Both, genuinely. Day one alone covers Bratislava Castle, the historic Old Town, St. Martin’s Cathedral and more. You’ll also visit a medieval rotunda in Skalica, a 9th-century castle in Nitra, the so-called “Rome of Slovakia” in Trnava, and the dramatic ruins of Devín Castle on the Austrian border. The wine is the thread that connects it all.

Where does the tour start and finish?

We pick you up at Vienna Airport on arrival and drop you back there on departure. So you don’t need a separate transfer from Vienna — it’s all taken care of from the moment you land. We can also adjust the tour to pick up at Bratislava Airport.

What time of year is best for a wine tour in Slovakia?

September and October are magical — the harvest is underway, the hills turn golden and the wineries are buzzing with activity. That said, the tour runs year-round and each season has its own character. Spring brings blossom on the vines, summer is warm and relaxed, and winter has a quieter, more intimate feel with mulled wine and firelit cellars.

Planning a group in Slovakia or Central Europe?

e-travel is an incoming DMC in Bratislava — send us the group, the dates and the cities, and we come back with a tailored proposal at net rates.

Request a proposal

Wine Tour Slovakia: Discover the Small Carpathian Wine Region Did you know that Slovakia is also a wine country?
