Slovakia: The country of the castles & mountains

Day 1: Arrival in Bratislava
Arrival at Vienna/ Bratislava airport. Meeting with the guide and driver at arriving hall of the airport. Transfer to Bratislava, start of panorama city tour of Bratislava. Visit Slavin Memorial from where is outstanding view on Bratislava and continue by visiting exteriors of splendid Bratislava Castle. Free time for lunch and check in at the hotel.
Evening continue by walking tour of historical city center of Bratislava, discovering St. Martin Cathedral, the famous cathedral of Bratislava where were crowned Hungarian Kings, including famous Maria Theresa. Continue to hidden gem of Bratislava – Primate’s Palace, Opera House, the Reduta Building, Main Square, St. Michael Tower and many more. Dinner at local restaurant within walking distance from the hotel.
Day 2: Nitra, Banska Stiavnica
Departure towards Central Slovakia. First stop in Nitra, one of the most oldest cities of Slovakia, where we will visit the cathedral of St. Emeram and beautiful historical city center. Continue towards the Hronsky Benadikt Abbey, one of the oldest and most beautiful holly places of Slovakia.
Finally heading to the gem of Central Slovakia, old mining city of Banska Stiavnica, one of the most richest cities of former Austro-Hungarian Empire thanks to its gold and silver mines. Here we will visit the Old Castle and beautiful city center, which is part of UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST. Accommodation and dinner at stylish chateau Grand Viglas.
Day 3: Hronsek, Banska Bystrica, Vlkolinec, Low Tatras
In the morning departure towards Hronsek, where we will visit the wooden articular protestant church, built from wood without using any nail. In addition we will visit the exteriors of beautiful Water Palace of Hronsek.
Continue to Banska Bystrica, the center of Central Slovakia and during II. World War, the center of Slovak National Uprising. Visit of historical city center. At the edge of Low Tatras National Park and National Park Big Fatra we will visit mountain village Vlkolinec, small mountain village, part of UNESCO thanks to its wooden architecture.
We will finish 3rd day in Low Tatras, at the biggest ski & summer resort Jasna, where we will stroll along the only glacial lake of Low Tatras – Vrbicke Pleso. Buffet dinner at 4* hotel.
Day 4: Demanovska Cave of Liberty, High Tatras
After the buffet breakfast departure to famous Demanovska Cave of Liberty, one of the biggest Slovakian caves famous thanks to huge stalactites and stalagmites. Continue our tour to one of the most beautiful parts of Slovakia – High Tatras, stop in Strbske Pleso, famous touristic center located next to Strbske Pleso lake, one of the most famous glacial lakes of High Tatras (more than 80 glacial lakes).
Lunch in traditional Slovakian restaurant called “Koliba”. Afterwards take funicular from Stary Smokovec to Hrebienok. Short stroll to beautiful Studenovodske Waterfalls. Admiring the beautiful views of Tatras. Evening traditional Slovakian dinner with gypsy folk music. Overnight in Tatranska Lomnica.
Day 5: Lomnicky Peak, Kezmarok, Spiss Region, Kosice
From Tatranska Lomnica take cable car to Lomnicke Sedlo (2190 m) or possible even to take a funicular to Lomnicky Peak, the second highest Slovakian peak (2634 m).
After the lunch departure towards medieval town Kezmarok, where we will visit beautiful city center with it’s city castle. Entrance to wooden articular protestant church (UNESCO) and new eclectic protestant church designed by famous Austrian architect Theophil Hanssen. At the new church is buried also Imrich Tokoli, the leader of rebellion contra Royal Family Habsburg.
Continue to gothic region Spiss, full of UNESCO monuments. Entrance to Slovakian Vatican Spisska Kapitula & biggest castle of Central Europe – Spiss Castle. Continue to the 2nd biggest Slovakian city Kosice, the center of Eastern Slovakia. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Kosice.
Day 6: Kosice, Bardejov, Hervartov, Trocany
Early morning city tour of beautiful city center of Kosice, with it’s famous Hlavna Street, and the biggest Slovakian church – Cathedral of St. Elisabeth. Continue towards Bardejov (UNESCO), visit historical city center and the basilica of St. Egidius. After the lunch visit of wooden catholic churches in Hervartov (Roman Catholic) & Trocany (Greek catholic). Return to Kosice, dinner at traditional Eastern Slovakia restaurant Karzma. Overnight in Kosice.
Day 7: Levoca, Orava Castle, Bratislava
Early morning buffet breakfast and departure towards medieval town Levoca, entrance to basilica of St. Jacob with impersonate altar of Master Paul from Levoca (UNESCO). Continue to “Dracula” Castle Orava. One of the most beautiful and well preserved castles of Slovakia, where in 1922 was filmed the 1st movie about Dracula – Nossferatu. Lunch and transfer to Bratislava. Overnight in Bratislava.
Day 8: Free time in Bratislava and flight back home
Buffet breakfast at the hotel. Free time in Bratislava. Transfer to Bratislava/ Vienna airport. End of the services.
