Frequently asked questions

The questions tour operators, agencies and group planners ask before working with us — answered straight.

General

Who is E-TRAVEL.SK DMC?

E-TRAVEL.SK DMC is Slovakia’s oldest Destination Management Company, operating since 1993. We are a local Slovak DMC specialising in tailor-made and ready-made small group tours in Slovakia and Central Europe. Our multilingual staff speak English, Spanish, French, German, and Russian.

What types of clients do you work with?

We primarily serve travel agencies, tour operators, and Virtuoso partners looking for a reliable B2B ground-handler for Slovakia and Central Europe. We also work with US luxury travel agents and LATAM operators, particularly for our Vienna–Bratislava–Budapest programmes.

What group sizes do you accommodate?

We specialise in small groups of up to 7 or 15 passengers, which is ideal for boutique hotel accommodation, exclusive supplier access, and personalised service.

Why is Slovakia a good destination for small group travel?

Slovakia offers a compelling mix of advantages for small group travel:

  • Compact distances enabling multi-region itineraries without long transfers
  • Strong cultural identity and authentic rural communities
  • Competitive pricing compared to saturated Western European markets
  • Sustainable transport options, including an excellent rail network
  • Less crowded than neighbouring destinations
  • 8 UNESCO World Heritage sites (5 cultural, 3 natural)

Tours & Products

What kinds of tours do you offer?

We offer a wide range of programmes to suit different travel interests:

  • Cultural tours – castles, Gothic heritage, folk architecture, UNESCO sites, mining towns
  • Active / adventure tours – self-guided trekking, guided hiking, cycling, winter soft-adventure
  • Wine, beer & gastronomy tours – wine tastings, farm-to-table dinners, brewery visits, culinary workshops
  • Religious & pilgrimage tours – Marian routes, wooden churches, monastery visits
  • Cross-border tours – Vienna–Bratislava–Budapest triangle
  • Ancestor & heritage tours – connecting Slovak-Americans with their roots
  • Luxury / Virtuoso programmes – high-end guided experiences
Do you offer tailor-made itineraries or only fixed packages?

Both. We have a portfolio of ready-made programmes available for immediate booking, as well as a dedicated product team that designs fully tailor-made itineraries based on your clients’ interests, budget, and travel dates. Fast quotation turnaround is guaranteed.

What is the Vienna–Bratislava–Budapest tour?

This is one of our bestselling products — a compact Central Europe itinerary visiting three capital cities in three countries. Key advantages include short travel distances, strong rail connectivity, cultural diversity, and a single ground-handler managing the full package. It is especially popular with US and LATAM clients.

Do you offer self-guided tours?

Yes. We offer several self-guided programmes, including:

  • Self-guided trekking holidays in the Small Fatra mountains
  • Self-guided trekking holidays in the High Tatras
  • Cycling holidays from the Danube to the mountains

All routes are well-planned with curated local experiences along the way.

Guides & Languages

In which languages do you provide guided tours?

We have licensed, experienced guides and driver-guides available in English, French, Spanish, German, and Russian.

Can you arrange private guides or driver-guides?

Yes. All our cultural programmes include guided access with our own licensed guides. Depending on the itinerary, we can provide a dedicated guide, a driver-guide, or a combination of both.

Sustainability

How sustainable are your tours?

Sustainability is a core value for us, not just a marketing claim. We actively encourage the use of train travel for transfers wherever possible. Our efforts include:

  • Train-based Vienna–Bratislava–Budapest routing
  • Reduced coach mileage on itineraries
  • Regionally sourced services and local supplier partnerships
  • Community-based tourism elements
  • Railway tours of Slovakia in partnership with Dutch and Spanish operators

Religious & Specialty Travel

Do you offer pilgrimage or faith-based tours?

Yes. Religious travel is a growing niche we actively support. We design Marian pilgrimage routes, visits to wooden churches (UNESCO), monastery and basilica tours, spiritual mountain retreats, and cross-border faith-based itineraries (Austria–Slovakia–Hungary). We can even arrange private Holy Masses at local churches for intimate group experiences.

Do you offer heritage or ancestry tours for Slovak-Americans?

Absolutely. Around 5 million Americans trace their roots to Slovakia, particularly in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, and Wilkes-Barre. We partner with Virtuoso members to offer meaningful heritage travel experiences that connect travellers with their Slovak ancestry.

B2B & Operations

What commercial advantages do small group Slovakia tours offer operators?
  • Better margins compared to saturated Western European markets
  • Access to authentic regional suppliers unavailable to large groups
  • Manageable logistics with 8–15 pax groups
  • Flexible itinerary customisation
  • Growing demand for sustainable and meaningful travel
  • A fresh destination still within reasonable distance from major European hubs
How quickly can you provide a quotation?

We pride ourselves on a fast quotation turnaround. Contact us with your group details and we will respond promptly with a competitive B2B pricing proposal.

How do I get in touch or start a partnership?

You can reach us directly through E-TRAVEL.SK DMC. We have been operating since 1993 and are experienced in working with international tour operators, travel agencies, and Virtuoso partners. Our team speaks English, Spanish, French, German, and Russian, so language is never a barrier.
