In 2026 Trenčín holds the title of European Capital of Culture — a year-long programme of festivals, exhibitions and city-wide art that puts this castle town firmly on the European map, with demand to match.
The mighty Trenčín Castle rises directly above the old town square (look for the Roman inscription of 179 AD carved into its rock), and the spa town of Trenčianske Teplice is 15 minutes away — culture, castle and cure in one compact stop between Bratislava and the north.
